I think most NFL fans know about the big stories around who has been sacked the most in NFL history, and given their current roles in the game it’s striking that names like Brett Favre and Peyton Manning are at the top of the list. But there’s a whole lot more to it than just having a couple of legendary quarterbacks who have carried the most sacks in the league.
Say what you will, wholesale jerseys but Eli Manning’s record for most sacks taken is one heck of a feat. Now in his 15th season with the New York Giants, Eli has been sacked 454 times in regular-season games, more than any other quarterback in cheap nfl jerseys from china history. That means he’s been hit hard more than any other quarterback, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be slowing down anytime soon.
But there’s much more to the story than Manning and Favre. Jaguars’ quarterback David Garrard set the record for most sacks taken the very same year that Favre and Manning set their marks, and he too has a pretty impressive record. During the 2014 season, Garrard took 54 sacks in 16 games, more than any other quarterback over the same period.
But it’s not just quarterbacks who have been hit hard. The Chargers’ LaDainian Tomlinson holds the record for most sacks taken as a running back with 77. That record could quite possibly have been higher if Chargers’ head coach, Norv Turner, hadn’t kept him out of the lineup for the final three games of 2010.
And then there’s Matt Schaub. While not usually having many records in his name, wholesale nfl jerseys from china Schaub had a record breaking 2012 season when it came to sacks in the NFL. He was sacked an outrageous 44 times in 14 games – seven times against the Jaguars alone.
So, cheap nfl jerseys while we have the obvious big names at the top of the list – Manning, Favre, cheap jerseys Garrard, Tomlinson – there’s a whole lot more to this story. And a whole lot of players who you might not typically think of when it comes to sacks in the NFL.
For example, cheap nfl jerseys Gus Frerotte holds the record for most sacks taken in one game, taking 9 against the Cowboys in 1997. Even more impressive? Frerotte bounced back and racked up 451 yards that same day. Not only did he have the guts to stay in the pocket, but he also put forth one of the best performances of his career.
You might be surprised to learn Randy Grossman set the record for most sacks taken in a single season in 1979. Even with the Texans’ sieve-like offensive line, no other quarterback in history has taken that many sacks. He was sacked 65 times that same year, wholesale jerseys and the record still stands.
I’m not sure if anyone can beat those records anytime soon, wholesale nfl jerseys but you never know. If there’s one thing that’s for sure it’s that NFL teams are always looking to get better on the offensive line, and certainly drastically reduce the amount of sacks their quarterback takes.
It’ll be interesting seeing the outcome in the future. With the way the game is slowly evolving and cheap nfl jerseys jerseys from china offensive linemen getting bigger and stronger, we may very well see some new records set in the coming years. Who knows, maybe one of those new records will be held by a quarterback that we all know and love.
